Casting & AirPlay: Send IPTV to Your TV from iPhone

Send IPTV from Stream Master on iPhone or iPad to an Apple TV, AirPlay TV or Chromecast. A Pro feature: how it works, step by step, and its limits.

Stream Master can send the channel, movie or episode you are watching on your iPhone or iPad to a bigger screen, using AirPlay for an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV, or Google Cast for a Chromecast or other Google Cast device. Both are Pro features on iPhone and iPad. Free users see the buttons in the player, but tapping one opens the “Upgrade to Premium” screen.

If you own an Apple TV, you may not need casting at all: Stream Master also runs directly on Apple TV.

What you can do with it

  • AirPlay to an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV. The AirPlay button opens the standard iOS device picker, so you choose your TV the same way you would from any other Apple app.
  • Cast to a Chromecast or Google Cast device. Pick your device from the Cast button and the stream you are watching loads on the TV automatically.
  • Keep watching on your phone while casting. With Google Cast, playback on the phone continues while the TV plays the stream.
  • Choose when the TV changes channel. If you switch channels on your phone while casting, the TV keeps playing what it was already showing. A “Play on TV” button appears, so you decide when to send the new channel. You can check what else is on without interrupting everyone watching the TV.
  • See clearly when something cannot play. If the TV cannot play a stream you send with Google Cast, Stream Master shows a “Connection Failed” message instead of leaving you guessing.

Casting is part of the full-screen player, so you can use it with any playlist you have added, whether you used “Link m3u” or “Xtream Login”.

How to use it

AirPlay

  1. Add your playlist from the Playlists tab by tapping + and choosing Link m3u or Xtream Login. If you are new to the app, see Getting Started with Stream Master.
  2. Open a channel, movie or episode so it plays in the full-screen player.
  3. Look at the stack of buttons on the right side of the player and tap the AirPlay button.
  4. In the iOS device picker, choose your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV.

Chromecast and Google Cast

  1. Start playing something in the full-screen player.
  2. Tap the Google Cast button in the same button stack on the right.
  3. Pick your Chromecast or Google Cast device. The stream that is playing loads on the TV automatically.
  4. To put a different channel on the TV, change channel on your phone, then tap Play on TV when you are ready.
  5. If you see Connection Failed, the TV could not play that stream. Try another channel, or watch it on the phone.

Limits and requirements

  • Pro only. AirPlay and Chromecast are included in Stream Master Pro, along with unlimited playlists and favorites, recording, offline downloads, Multi-View on iPhone and iPad, video picture settings, iCloud Sync and Watch Stats, and no ads. Pro is available as a monthly, yearly or lifetime plan. Prices vary by country and are shown in the App Store.
  • iPhone and iPad. Casting is sent from the iOS app, which needs iOS 16 or later.
  • A compatible receiver. For AirPlay you need an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible TV. For Google Cast you need a Chromecast or a Google Cast device.
  • Your own content. Stream Master plays the M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login you already have from your provider. It does not include or sell any channels or subscriptions.
  • Not every stream will play on every TV. When a Cast device cannot handle a stream, you get the “Connection Failed” message. If streams are failing in general, not just when casting, IPTV Not Working? Common Problems and How to Fix Them covers the usual causes.

When it is not available

  • On the free version. The AirPlay and Cast buttons are visible, but they open the “Upgrade to Premium” screen instead of casting.
  • In the Apple TV app. The tvOS version of Stream Master does not have AirPlay or Chromecast. It does not need them, because it plays your playlists directly on the TV. It includes Multi-View, favorites, reminders, parental control and iCloud Sync. With Pro, iCloud Sync keeps your playlists, favorites and watch history the same on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, so you do not have to type your playlist details in again with a remote. See Stream Master Now on Apple TV for how the Apple TV app works.

Get it on the big screen

If you want to move your IPTV from your phone to the TV in a couple of taps, download Stream Master from the App Store and upgrade to Pro to turn on AirPlay and Chromecast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is casting free in Stream Master?

No. AirPlay and Chromecast are Pro features on iPhone and iPad. Free users see the buttons in the player, but tapping one opens the "Upgrade to Premium" screen.

Does Stream Master work with Chromecast as well as Apple TV?

Yes. Tap the Google Cast button in the player to send the stream to a Chromecast or Google Cast device, or tap the AirPlay button to choose an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV from the iOS device picker.

What happens if I change channels on my phone while casting?

With Google Cast, the TV keeps playing the stream it already has. A "Play on TV" button appears so you choose when to send the new channel, and playback on your phone continues while you cast.

Do I need casting if I have an Apple TV?

Not necessarily. Stream Master has an Apple TV app that plays your playlists directly. The Apple TV app does not include AirPlay or Chromecast, and with Pro, iCloud Sync can bring your playlists over from your iPhone or iPad.
